News for artists

While people may sleep, technology doesn’t. Each day, there’s a flood of news about generative AI. Artists, immersed in their craft, might find it challenging to keep up, which is why I’m curating and highlighting relevant articles, available in the “Salty Snacks” section of the website.

Why “Salty Snacks,” you say?

Picture the irresistible appeal of a crunchy potato chip or a salty pretzel, offering a quick, satisfying burst of flavor. Similarly, the curation of the articles are designed to be the artistic counterpart, providing quick, enriching insights to fuel your creativity.

Some of the articles are free to readers, some are free after obtaining a free account, but some are premium content behind paywalls. I firmly support premium content because I believe in quality journalism, and paywalls help ensure that journalists and writers are compensated fairly for their work.

It’s not lost on me that while premium content helps ensure that artists are compensated, I’m posting the news on a website whose goal is to demystify generative AI, a technology that as of now uses artists’ work without permission, compensation, or attribution.

This is something I struggle with, but as a technologist, part of my core DNA is turning threats into opportunities. It is my hope that by equipping artists with the latest news and in a concise way, they can navigate the evolving digital landscape with confidence and agency.

With knowledge comes opportunity, and with opportunity comes power.
